Formerly known as Sussman House, this site was part of a multi-property modernization project undertaken by the Brookline Housing Authority (BHA) and led by BWA Architecture. CBA’s work encompassed the entire site, with a special focus on a large “park” space that takes up half of the development with gardens that had been stewarded by various resident groups. The new landscape preserved nearly all of the site’s mature tree canopy, and enhanced accessibility throughout the space. Key site features include a shade structure and gathering plaza near the renovated community room; formalized raised planting beds with water access and garden storage; and a loop path around the property with benches placed throughout for residents to rest, engage, or enjoy a variety of views.
