Paula Titus Park - Boston, MA
Neighborhood residents had been maintaining this former abandoned lot as an open social space for years before it was acquired by the Boston Parks & Recreation Department. The development of the park was spearheaded in memory of a longtime neighborhood resident, Paula Pina Titus. Her loved ones and neighbors, together with BPRD, wished to honor her memory by preserving and enhancing the park as a community gathering space, and memorializing Paula and her Cape Verdean heritage. The final pocket park offers shaded seating, a dedication space for the park’s namesake, a small hillside tot lot, new plantings, and a flexible open lawn space.
