Voke Park, Chelsea, MA

One of Chelsea’s most important active recreational facilities, this 3.5-acre park contains basketball courts, tennis and street hockey courts, two playgrounds, a bocce court, youth baseball diamond, a splash pad, shade structure, and public restrooms. CBA has designed renovations in multiple phases for this park, including in 2003-2005, 2013-2016, and 2021-2023. The last full renovation consisted of improvements to the playground for ages 5-12, and the addition of both the splash pad and the shade structure. Notably, CBA worked with a speech language pathologist to develop a custom bilingual communication board located along the main pedestrian axis that provides both a communication tool and an education opportunity. Currently, CBA’s design for renovation of the playground for ages 2-5 is awaiting construction funding.
